Patrick J. Hughes, M.D.

Patrick J. Hughes, M.D. is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon with proficiency in medical and surgical retinal diseases and uveitis affecting the posterior segment. A native of New Jersey, Dr. Hughes completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan and returned to New Jersey for degrees of Master in Biomedical Science and Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He subsequently completed his residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. During residency, Dr. Hughes was awarded the Rev. Reilly Humanitarian Award in recognition of his approach to patient care. He proceeded to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at NYU Langone Health in New York City where he also provided medical and surgical care at Bellevue Hospital Center. 

Dr. Hughes is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is well-versed in the diagnosis and management of complex medical and surgical vitreoretinal disorders including retinal tear, retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration, central serous chorioretinopathy, intermediate / posterior uveitis, intraocular lens dislocation following cataract surgery and secondary intraocular lens implantation. 

He is available for patient consultations at both the Morristown and Livingston office locations.
